In Georgetown the capital of Guyana, GISED aided in renovating a church known as the Queenstown Moravian Church. The roof of the church was in bad shape as it was on the verge of caving in. GISED worked together with the local parish and made sure that the damaged roof was fixed.
The renovation of the church was very important to the community, because to the residents, the church was more than just a place of worship. The Queenstown Moravian Church is a safe space for locals to come together, and for them to feel even more connected to their community. It is not just about physical shelter, but to keep the infrastructure of the city alive while respecting each cultural aspect of the society.
